There is a strong link between the business cycle and mental health. When the boom happens, people are exuberant. Money is plentiful and easy to acquire. Every shot is a bullseye.
When the bust happens, life sucks. People’s lives are uprooted and they are forced to do things they otherwise wouldn’t. This leads to an increased suicide rate and overall poor health.
