Human beings are creatures of habit.
People wake up around the same time every day and follow the same routine 5 days a week. We are so good a building habits that I bet you don’t even need to think about where the light switch in your bedroom is; you just flick it when you walk in the door without thinking.
You can either form whatever habits you stumble upon, or you can harness this ability to form and sustain habits and use it to improve your life.
Your health is a great place to start forming habits.
First, you need to understand what a habit is and why it’s important. Habits are just a behavior or mindset you create and follow with consistency. For example, you wake up every day at 6am and drink coffee. There may be a day here or there when that’s not the case, but more days than not that’s your routine.
Creating a habit of something you should be doing is important. It removes the willpower or drive from your day to day life. If you have to convince yourself to exercise every day then you’re less likely to do. If you are the person who habitually exercises then you’ll feel strange missing a day.
It’s easy for me to tell you that you should create habits. Now let me explain how to do it.
