In June 2021 the FDA approved a new drug specifically for weight loss. This was done in the wake of skyrocketing obesity rates. According to the CDC, the total percentage of adults who are obese (BMI 30+) or overweight (BMI 25-30) is 73.6%.
By comparison, that number was 45% in 1960, with 32% being overweight and 13% obese.
