We planned to launch this on Black Friday. But sometimes impatience is a virtue too, right?
The Problem
Microplastics are absolutely everywhere. They are in the water we drink, in the air we breathe, even in our food. They are practically indestructible, and nobody seems to have a good solution.
Our dependence on plastics over the last 50 years has increased exponentially. We are finally starting to get studies on how bad they are for our health.
They are so bad that I feel compelled to do something. In the future, I’ll be writing a lot more on the topic. Maybe a book?
In the meantime, we need a solution.
Microplastics and your skin
There is now sufficient evidence that microplastics enter the body through the skin. Here’s roughly how that happens:
Very small microplastics and nanoplastics get onto the skin from the environment, clothing, cosmetics, etc.
They are mechanically rubbed deeper into the skin - this is exacerbated when skin is damaged or weakened such as with UV damage
Langerhans cells in the skin absorb microplastics and bring them into systemic circulation
There are other hypotheses, but I suspect there are multiple routes of entry.
Once in the body, microplastics wreak havoc. They cause massive cellular damage and accumulate within the organs, leading to a wide array of dysfunctions. I’ll talk about this in much greater detail when… I mean if… I write a book on the topic.
Microplastics can also damage the skin itself. MPs are found in many cosmetics and synthetic fibers. If you’ve got eczema, this may be a trigger. MPs can cause inflammation and damage to every cell we’ve researched. It is rational that it would also damage the skin cells.
If you wash yourself with most modern store-bought industrial-made soap you’re only making the problem worse. They all contain microplastics both in their production and their formula. It’s hard to get the consistency and feel you’re used to without adding it.
That’s what we are fixing…
Doc’s Zeolite Tallow Soap
After extensive research, I found a mineral that can help. I reached out to Ancient Health & Healings to see if they could help, and they were immediately on board. And thus, Doc’s Zeolite Tallow Soap was born.
Zeolite
This is a category of minerals. They are found pretty much everywhere in the world but are difficult to accumulate in significant quantities because they are often found with other minerals.
Zeolite has been found to bind microplastics and form aggregates. This has to do with the charge of zeolite and microplastics - opposites attract. It has been used in water filtration to successfully remove microplastic and other contaminants.
There isn’t any real research on human use because this is a completely new field. But we can extrapolate from what we know.
Using the same principles in the studies linked below, we can assume zeolite binds microplastics. You can see this in action in the image below from one study. Click the image to link to the whole study.
Now when we add zeolite to soap, it binds microplastics on the skin, and you wash them down the drain. Simple, right?
Here are a few studies on the topic:

Microplastic-Free Soap
We don’t want to add any microplastics to a soap designed to remove it. That’s why I trusted Ancient Health & Healings soap. They make tallow-based soap containing only 5 ingredients:
Tallow - cow fat which has traditionally been used in soap. Provides excellent cleaning and hydration
Lye - an inorganic compound used in just about every natural soap. It is part of the soap-making process. It helps them dissolve in the water.
Raw Honey - has antimicrobial properties and increases the lather of soap
Essential oils - they smell good
Zeolite
That’s it! That’s all you’ll find in Doc’s Zeolite Tallow Soap. I have tested this soap out over the last few months, and it is fantastic stuff.
How to use
It’s soap. Use it to wash your body in the bath or shower.
On a serious note, I would use this in particular in areas where you have high microplastic exposure. Your groin and feet if you wear synthetic undergarments, for example. You can use it on your face to remove makeup or just wash your face if you apply a lot of cosmetic products. Or just use it on your whole body like I do. Whatever you want. It’s soap.
I am very excited to sell this soap. It’s only the beginning. If you’re interested, pick up a bar. And of course, use code “Renegade”
