The Least Important Meal of the Day
The How and Why of Intermittent Fasting
Intermittent fasting (IF) was one of the most requested topics, and for good reason. In my experience this eating pattern is one of the most effective ways for the average person to control their caloric intake and lose weight. The power of intermittent fasting does not come from some magic properties of time-restricted eating. It comes from simply reducing calories in a more satiating way which can easily be sustained.
This is often considered an ancestral or ancient way of eating. Thousands of years ago there were no grocery stores, no farmers markets, no way to store food. Our ancestors would eat when they could catch and cook something to be shared with the community. This could mean fasting for the entire morning and not eating until the evening, or maybe even a day or two.
