Covid-19 isn’t cool anymore. The media and medical fearmongers have all moved onto a much less-known virus: Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV).
RSV has actually been around for a long time. It was first discovered and isolated in the 1950s. It was found to be one of the many causes of childhood viral infections and has been one of the most common infections in infants and children to this date.
The virus is transmitted through droplets, meaning it is carried within drops of bodily fluids. When a person sneezes, coughs, licks their fingers, or rubs one of their mucus membranes, the virus spreads. RSV can last outside the for several hours and tends to be highly transmissible.
One special aspect of this virus not often seen is the ability to spread after treatment and after symptoms stop. Viral transmission has been shown for multiple weeks after symptoms end.
